This Makes Me Only One Block Behind.

D-3 Jason's Jacks, my second reverse applique block. I still have a long way to good before I'm good at this. I tried taking a picture of this block vs. scanning it. I thought the picture was much too dark, but the scan doesn't show the edges of the block. Next block I'll try scanning with a piece of colored paper on top of it to see if this help show an edge to the white block.

I liked making this block more than I liked reverse applique. I remembered about letting your feed dogs do the easing from my garment sewing days. When you do that you place the seam that looks bigger closest to the feed dogs. I this case it's the piece that looks like a piece of pie. If you have matched up your ends and your middle, somehow magically this all eases into itself. Makes sense? Well, I'm not very good with instructions.

"I Cried Me a River" or "The Block Where Jan gets her Jane Comeuppance".

This block is called Jane's Tears but I think I'll call this "I cried me a river". It's my first attempt at reverse applique, and it shows. Oh well, like Brenda says finished is better than perfect. Oy, those tears are spikey. I'll decide later whether to redo this block or leave it as an example of my early RA work. That is if my later RA work improves significantly. I believe Dear Jane offers lots of opportunities to practice.
I really do have other sewing to get done. I'm participating in FaDSA. My project is due by the end of the week, and right now it's just a whisper of a thought. Luckily I already purchased my fabric.

Ha, what's so hard about Dear Jane.

I've made three blocks - doesn't that make me an expert.
Oh how I wish.
I've taken the easy way out, or in, by beginning with the simplest blocks the group has made. I'm enjoying this, but it's way too easy to get a big head. I know that reverse applique is next, and I'm scared.
So I'm pouring a glass of wine, and heading off to the tv because tomorrow is the real beginning of my Jane Journey. Tomorrow I learn how to reverse applique, and I had better be a quick learner, because there's an awful lot of RA in Jane's quilt.

Rockabye Sweet Baby Jane

Brenda Papadakis says "finished is better than perfect".
I say begun is better than dreaming Jane done.
So, i've begun. Here's B-13, Four Corner Press.
